Choose a drone fishing rig for your bait and target
Pre-tied drone fishing rigs can make bait deployment quicker and more repeatable, but the right rig still depends on hook size, leader strength, bait size, target species and the total payload your drone can carry.
Hook size & style
Select hook size and pattern for the bait and species you are targeting rather than simply choosing the largest available option.
Leader & trace strength
Match leader and trace to your line class, likely abrasion, bait size and target fish. Heavier is not automatically better if it makes the whole system harder to present or deploy.
Total deployed weight
Your rig, sinker, bait and any release hardware all contribute to the drone’s payload. Calculate the complete deployed setup, not the rig by itself.
Complete the setup
Single-dropper or multi-dropper rig?
That depends on your fishing method, target species, local rules and the payload your drone can safely carry. A simpler rig is often easier to deploy and manage.
Does sinker weight count toward drone payload?
Yes. Treat the entire load hanging from the aircraft — release hardware, rig, sinker and bait — as part of the payload calculation.
